Toby & I were supposed to go see The Pretty Reckless in Boston tonight at Harper’s Ferry. I got the tickets a few months ago. I really liked them when I saw them on Warped Tour last summer and I just bought their new record. Unfortunately, when we went to Brewer last weekend, I got sick (picked up the nasty cold from Mike Naran) and now I am too sick to go to the show. Really bummed but hopefully I will get a chance to see them another time.
In education, parents are often labeled as “helicopter parents” because they hover over their kids, apply a lot of pressure and are involved in every single thing they do.
The parents in the Sparks Family could be called helicopter parents I guess. Except without the pressure. We just enjoy our sons and the band so much that we like being with them and are proud of them. We go to shows and sing along with the fans and sometimes kids think we are funny because we are “old”. lol
As parents we have been involved with their band(s) since they were kids and picked up their instruments for the first time. We remember 7th grade back in 1999 when their wildest dream was to someday play Warped Tour (which they accomplished last summer). Several of us parents spent a few days on Warped Tour with them and let me tell you we had a blast!
We also love meeting our guys fans! Years ago before they were signed to Fearless I used to run the myspace street team. I spent hours and hours adding friends, posting bulletins, pictures, videos etc and only because I love those guys and their band and will help them any way I can.
So follow me only if you are interested in the Sparks updates from the “helicopter” view! The Sparks Family is a tight one starting with the band, girlfriends, crew, label, management, siblings, and yes the parents!
By the way, I am Linda and I am Toby’s mom. Everybody say “Hi Linda”.
